    DJ'ing advice - Fillers

Right, I consider myself more than capable of picking a cracker. I love vocally uplifting stuff from disco right through to present day. I'm starting to compile sets to practise, but I am concerned that I don't want to sound like a Ministry of Sound CD, with one floor filler after another. So...

    King Of The Mountain-Kate Bush

unsure the first time I heard it, not bad the 2nd, liked it the 3rd, I now think its brilliant. Would be great in a chillot/baleric set as well. Any other takers?

    Beat mixing questions!

    1) When you beat mix, do more experienced DJ's pick which 4 beats the come in on? I remember Jonno saying ages ago that on a certain mix he knew he had about 8 seconds to cue his tune up and drop it in at exactly the right moment. When you prepare a set, do you make a mental note of this? 2)...

    Decks

Brilliant. I just set mine up on fri finally, about 18 months after buying them off Grad. Spent all Fri evening on them and most of Sat and Sun daytime. Seriously addicted. Give me a few months and I'll up a mix  :P  And then I'll trade me Gemini's in for some Technics!!!

Finally got my decks down to London this weekend, I only bought them off Grad about 18 months ago. I don't have an amp and speakers at the minute, and am pretty skint, can I, or would you advise against puttin git through my mini system just for the time being. Oly problem is my mini system...

    Bit random, tune ID

I went to see Giles Peterson the other night in Manchester and as the last tune of his set (not the encore) he played this tune that sounded really familiar. I am sure it has been on an advert, the vocals sound a bit like the chorus of 'Children of the revolution', although it has a slightly...

Marvin Gaye - What's goin' on

This is going for about a fiver in HMV at the minute, my brother has been banging on about it for months. I would recommend it to ANYONE on this board, its a quality quality quality record. And if the way 'God is love' mixes into Mercy mercy me doesn't make you want to put your hands in the...

    On the 'Music making' theme

Is there software that will lift the individual tracks off a track. So say I wanted to remove the vocal from a track? Or just the bass etc. is this easy to do? I've had ideas for tunes for years, especially updating a few Northern Soul tunes but always wondered how easy it was to do? Cheers Ed
