This is going for about a fiver in HMV at the minute, my brother has been banging on about it for months. I would recommend it to ANYONE on this board, its a quality quality quality record.

And if the way 'God is love' mixes into Mercy mercy me doesn't make you want to put your hands in the air, you aren't a proper house head.

So get out there in your dinner hour and buy some Soul!

This is probably my all time number one album of all time heheh, me and the mrs even had it played at the wedding before the proceedings properly kicked off.

Being too much of an anorak I've got the original vinyl, CD, and the CD reissue. It just gets better with every listen. Check his live at the palladium disc too mate, I reckon you'd dig it, there's a medley around track 6 or 7 that is the nuts.

It's a fiver on CD. I tell you what I've not been moved by a whole album like that in years. I played it 3 times back to back last month when I got it, and probably would have had it on again if I han't been going out.

It's got everything, his voice just makes you want to burst in to tears anyway its that good, great strings, soulful/gospel backing, even a bit of piano. And some real heavy lyrics man, real heavy. He basically reveals he's got a terrible coke problem on one track. Breaks your heart it does.

Its a masterpiece.

Cheers Wildpitch. I'll be having some of that!!!

Any other recommendations? My mate just got the soundtrack he did in 72, forgotten the title now.

What a voice, what a voice.
