See your point and valid ones they are, but the workers you are protecting wont have jobs if bars close or have to cut back on staff, which is the point i was making,

we have had the ban longer than you and i do not know of one pub that has closed in my county, none of my local pubs are less busy and none have less staff

even the bingo place is still going

I do worry about the tax issues though if more peeps give up, although of course you could argue that in general the Health Service will be under less 'lifestyle' induced illness, but then you could argue lol that they are massively funded by cigarette tax :axe:

Good point there

If only 26% of the UK adult population smoke and that lowers as a result of the ban (they have upped the legal age for buying ciggies to 18 now) then the gov will put the tax on other things to cover the downfall in ciggy sales - booze will be the obvious choice I'd imagine.

None smoking drunks will be ranting loads if that happens

I love the ban

To answer the question, i was in syndicate last week n it was rammed to the rafters with a few thousand people. U go to a club to listen to music n dance, not smoke. If you want to smoke, stay @ home :)

Im loving the smoking ban. It has made it so much easier for me on a night out not to be tempted into having a ciggi again. I have quit the ciggies now for 2 years 7 months  and i dont intend to start up again :naughty:

Of course its anti-social. More people don't smoke than do, and its obviously bad for both the smokers and passive smokers health, then its obviously anti-social! I am not saying its shit, as my previous posts state i like being around smokers lol- but clearly its anti-social in general.

Anti-social dosn't always mean hostile or disruptive, it can also mean going against the social majorities wishes.

the point of the thread was to disscuss the changes in clubland pubs , ect if anyone is saying it hasnt affected them in some way then thats a load of bollocks

ohhh and since when do you make the rules about effing and swearing  and correcting peoples grammer cause youve nothing better to do

Lol, its a Prince song. Appologies for keeping it light-hearted, i was simply trying to have a laugh!

Chillout old man, i was saying that if we lay of the fucks etc it won't spiral into a slanging match, as it always seems to. Why be so hostile- its just another thread thats hardly a big deal.

Did i say COUNTRY, i said my COUNTY, pay attention? Scotland may not be a large country but even i do not what is going on everywhere here

The question was how did the ban affect pubs and clubs, well in my area and in my experience, not at all in a negative way!! You can say I'm talking bollocks if you want but you would not know would you?

The bingo hall in my area is still going and that report was from about a year ago.

Back up what you are saying about my locals then Mr?

Think and read before you post a reply to someone

if peeps wanna swear on osa to get THEIR point accross or let off steam on a heated issue when they feel like then thats upto THEM,ohh and BTW Peeps seem to stfu when the evidence is shown , if butty wants to ban certain swear words he can quite easily ,

Half of Scottish bingo halls threatened by smoking ban - Independent Online Edition > Business News

Smoking Ban Has Cost Me My Pub Landlord (from Bury Times)

and that last story is just 2 months into the UK ban, its has had an effect and a bad one , im a non smoker for over 6 years now i smoked 40 a day for over 15 years so i know its easy to pack in if u have will power but the point of this thread is, its a FACT it WILL and HAS effected clubland in some way shape or form ,I know ill be thinking twice about future summer events i host ,as has been pointed out peeps will be less likely to smoke when its cold.. so i recon winter will see a slight change in smokers behaviour..we will just have to wait n see

Chillout:cops: Otherwise you will look hostile and disruptive lol. What is the point of bring up past posts, seriously if you have a issue with how i discuss shite then perhaps it could be addressed via pm rather than letting it manifest and bringing it up later, in what appears to be a totally unrealed subect:S

Why is it heated? Its hardly an emotive topic- and if you would actually read my posts rather than chucking a epi over nowt you would have noticed i agreed its shite! My argument was, and still is that to claim pubs are shuting down you have to in some way prove it, or its just classed as nonsense- nothing but a knee jerk comment in response to your own views.

We are not school kids, nor is Butty is the teacher enforcing playground rules, its up to us to be respectfull when we post and not get agrro when quite clearly its not needed.

Your links will be read, cheers for putting them up on Murfo's behalf. I dare say though that to get a clearer picture on Bingo (lol) halls and Pubs true fait we would have to wait a few years.

Think it's probably just in the short term that jobs are affected, or pubs will close, but i'd reckon most would have been struggling anyway:S

It's just a transition anyway as people will either just adapt to it, or maybe socialise at home with their smoking friends but then some other industy will grow if that happens.

This is what i am saying, we have to give it a few years, get stats (damn stats lol- i once wrote an essay on stats you know for an A-Level exam:cool: ) and see whats what long term.
