Well, im just about computerable today so i thought i would start the review for what was a fantastic night. First of all i would like to thanks everyone who helped with the organising.. Cano & Saysay Couldnt have done it without you's, and i'm ded glad you're part of the crew LouLou for doing a wicked job with the flyers and everyone else who contributed in some way or another, that if ive forgot then im probably still not quite 100% yet lol
The DJs on the night excelled themselves from the first beat of music right until the very end, well at least till the start of my set anyway lol Cano kicking the show off with 2hr15mins of downtempo legends style tunes, building up to some corkers like black box - hold on, beatbusters, Olympia - You want my love,and Bassomatic-fascinating Rhythm, leaving Recca a perfect platform to take off from.
Recca was up next and stepped up the pace with Last Rhythm, funkatarium, & The phoenix et al to really get the crowd on their feet with their hands like this \o/ it was really great to see the hotstepper out with his usual massive smile, playing tunes he loves himself Cheers Rexxy Glad you had such a good night mate

SaySay played a right stonkin set, (as commented on by loads of my mates from back home ) and also not her usual style which just goes to show what a great little Deej we have on our hands here!! Playing stuff like smaller than zero, the extravagance ep, and Street Level Funk - Show Me What You Got, the crowd were well up for it by the time the man like Tony Ross graced the turntables With some absolute stormers too!! Urban Hype - Tecknologi, Yobots - I got it, DOP - Groovy beat(i think lol) and of course the Young man himself Young MC - know how, which had the crowd goin' for it bigtime!!! it was really mint to see you playing with a smile this big i take it you enjoyed it T
the final hour was left up to me, and i tried to play some absolute classics, to make everyone go home with a smile on their faces. I didnt realise the reaction of the crowd at first as i was concentrating on mixing lol but whoever had my camera recorded a video of me playin my first tune and practically all you can hear is the crowd \o/

In response to the few who thought there should have been more anthems..
well, thats not really why we started the event. We started the night as we are all sick to death of hearing the same old shite regurgated week in week out, and wanted to give the DJs a chance to play what they wanted. I think every single DJ (especially me) played enough well known tunes to compliment the lesser known ones, and we think we really dont need to go down the route of playing anything that may ever be considered for a M.O.S album so if you want to hear KKlass and Rhythm quest this isnt the night for you

I wasnt being touchy about the comments so i apolgise if it looked that way in text

I was trying to explain about how we wanted the music to be, and how we'd discussed at length how we wanted to build the night up to a peak and bring it to a nice happy smiley end we picked the slot to suit the appropriate DJ for what we wanted, and all the DJs spent a while picking suitable tracks.

The reason for this is that when you have a crowd who is particularly into something, like in this case old house / oldskool tunes, then the usual overplayed, commercialised "now thats what i call oldskool" tracks have usually been heard to death and then some, and so we wanted to offer something different from the norm. I dont think a night can work if you play loads of obscure weird shite though, theres nothing worse imo than being in a club really wanting to have it large and crying out for a familiar tune to get you off the seat and on to the dancefloor and .... it never comes.. Im not asking to know every single tune that gets played, just something i know every now n then, something that sounds familar, or maybe the original of something that was later butchered by flip and fill and that donk bouncey shite or whatever its called now lol There is so many other good tunes out there that are beggin' to be cranked loud from a club system, and its such a buzz to play something unexpected and it to tear the roof off The crowd we looked to attract was people from OSA and of similar sorta backgrounds, who would appreciate and be more receptive to these sorta tunes which is why we only advertised it on here and the Legends site, and on myspace, without obviously giving out the location.


without the board and the inhabitants(sp?)of it, not forgetting Hazydayz, Timeless, Goodtimes, PR, OSA Radio and some of the other nights i went to more regularly (that i cant remember the name of lol:$ ) i probably would never have found out even 5 percent of the tunes i now own, so i spose ive been quite lucky to have been on here since day 1 listening to peoples mixes, and watching in clubs how everyone had their own different styles and techniques. Put all that put together with me striking very very very lucky when buying a big collection and some decks lol then i suppose these are my inspirations behind doing something like In My House and also I am lucky enough to have two top mates who share the same opinions

I should not have used the word touchy on the post in hindsight, because as soon as you do people get touchy LOL!

The night did build well and was clearly quite deliberate in it's aims. My comment while saying there were a few moments when it could have done with a bit of extra pep earlier on, should not be confused with me saying I thought the night was flat! I for one never wanted obvious cheese and I suppose was trying to say don't take it to heart what people said.. . . . . They all had a top night mate. I will leave you with my original comment with the word touchy replaced with the word "concerned"!

Don't be too concerned about a couple of people saying they wanted a few more athems. There were just perhaps a few moments over the night where, it needed an extra pep. However, I agree that to roll out the usual old shite is not the way forward. Dj'ing is not an exact science is it??!! Overall I thought the night was a great mix of people and music and would do it all again. Good to see you again by the way.

Please don't fall out with me Woody!!! I'm not a bad person really! God I'm going be hounded out of the OSA now!

To me it all depends on what you call a beast, is it somat that gets played all the time? or somat that is rare??? another way of thinking of it is if you dont know the 'unanthemy' stuff, then do ylou know youre tunes as well as you thought you did? ...everyone can go on about the beasts cos evryones after em etc...But those forgotten tunes what no one cares about dont get the recognition they derserved cos more were pressed or whatever than what some consider as beasts...

For example some say cap n family is a beast, yes its a good tune, but its only cos its considered rare that ppl would consider it to be a beast, I dont jump thru hoops when I listen to it, imo it gets played loads, every night im out at (prime time is going that way too)

My idea of a pefect night out would be listening to a DJ who knows his tunes and how to get the crowd roaring and also dancing and chatting to a up for it crowd who know thier tunes, tunes that ppl know and respect wether its a beast or rare or not as popular as what some may consider as beasts...Somewhere where DJs arent afraid of getting there gems out cos they know the listeners have the respect and knowledge. Its ace when the DJ connects to the crowd, smiles, dancing about, playing tunes what you wanna hear, doesnt happen as much as i want it to tho...

Respect to all DJ's n party people involved - we had it proper Top tunes, top people, top atmos

What was really nice to see was DJ's playing what they wanted to play - & playing the tunes with a huge grin Not showing off in the slightest by playing 'obscure' tunes, but playing tunes that meant summat to them... & they were appreciated by the crowd Just shows that you DON'T need the same formulaic sounds of ASHA / Jinny etc etc to have a belter of a shinding

All DJ's played wiggid sets & special shouts to Cano - loved that set mate Thanks especially for playing Sound & Vision

Big big thanks to the organisers and all the other dj's and the top regulars crowd who made it such a good night - especially Pepe, nics, Mr Radish, T.C and Lottie

What made the night that bit special for me though was the group from Lymm Si Hill, Legal Eyez, Nadia and Kate (all proper sound peeps ) plus adam from the Legends nights and good to meet Inchigh too

I reckon this night is gonna be very very popular and credit to Cano for playing the kind of early night set that made Legends such a unique and respected club back in the day

Stand out tracks for me were bassomatic (cano) , The phoenix (Recca) bloody hell i about went into orbit when i heard that, great memories for me
and was lucky enough to hear 4 out of my top 5 in woodys set alone loved the 'factory records section' as i called it too...mint , and buffalo stance ~ what a great track to end on

Cano , SaySay and Woody massive congrats on putting on such a great night, i know how hard you all worked sorting it and hell yeah was it worth it


Great to see lots of familiar faces, far too many to namecheck , you know who you are and some great newbies too, on and off-board ones. nowthen, davey, ingchigh, etc.. and Special mention to legaleyez and sihill and their ladies , great bunch and rockin' all night glad you enjoyed it

the atmosphere was fantastic, everywhere you looked were peeps going for it, with big grins on their faces, and such a friendly vibe :alcohol:

shame about the flooding incident but didnt let it put a dampener on things (ba dum tisch ) yes, coat and taxi are here...

no thanks to macclesfield train station as we found out our train was cancelled 5 minutes before we were due to get on it boo, hiss.
