Well theres certainly no doubt about it, shes definatley pregnant, shes getting quite big now and because shes so petite she looks like shes swollowed a football bless her, i even felt them move propley last night, it was ace!! :D

I was wondering though, does she need to eat anything different, ive read somewhere that they should be eating kitten food in the last couple of weeks, which she is at now. Also is there anything i should be doing for her, im quite worried that she hasnt got a quite place to have them and i dont want her gettin stressed out!! :(

Any advice on looking after her and kittens will be much appreciated please!

cheers!

tracy - your cat will start to tell you herself the changes - she will become to start being more loving towards you shel always be resting and start going in corners in the later stages shell start to seek out a safe place where she canhave the kittens - try and make somewhere for her - we had an inside of a cupboard done out so cats could give birth she liked this had the kittens there -

towards the beginin of her labour shel start to get under covers with you in bed and that - thats how we could tell and a whitey yellow discharge from her will start to appear this is her beginnin labour - food wise we never changed feeding them the norm in fnal stages our 2 went of the food but drank more water - just keep an eye out on her shell tell you herself when shes good and ready - she will more than likely wait til you and lee are around and then start meowing heavily and actin loving to you then just guide to her place you have set out for her if not shell seek somewhere dark and warm ie under the bedclothes

i will find you a exceprt of the net which helped us loads, you will find when she has had her kittens she will start to eat loads this is to keep up the milk supply to the kittens feed her whenever she wants - start to ween the kittens on to kitten food about 4 weeks after then the fun beginns chasin the lil fuckers around the house lol the mother does the rest oh and prepare for the mother to move her kittens around this is the norm its just her makin sure they safe , just keep an eye out on her

these helped us loads

ps when shes having them i found its best to leave her alone only step in if she needs help the cats eats all the placentas and then chews the cord but one of ours was lazy the 1st time you may have to step in and cut it.
eventually this will drop of if theres some left on the kitten lol this is about as much medical youl get from me i was all like oh shes feckin up cautious around her 2nd time left her alone and she flew through it ate everythin

Sniffing glue........again!
I've had four litters over the last 6 months but i'm by no means an expert. I didn nothing different at all and all the kittens (all 14) have been ok. Actually that's not strictly true now i come to think of it. Tyler had three kittens the first time and two of them had bent legs, one still has bad legs but gets around no problem at all, the other one had to be put to sleep. Apparantly this is something which sometimes happens.

The vet did say it could be a deficiency problem and to give the kittens carnation milk so it may be an idea to give Mia some to give the babies extra calcium.

I did make nice beds for them to give birth in but they both just took themselves off to wherever they felt most safe and gave birth in hiding when they were ready. She'll do pretty much what she feels is best when she's ready. When i saw the cats with no fat bellies anymore i had to go on a hunt for the kittens!!! One litter was found under the floor boards under the bahroon sink which was a bit of a nightmare!! Thanks agin to sweet for putting her hand in and getting them out!!!

I'm sure there are websites you could look for which will give you some info, i found a few when mine were pregnant the first time.

Good luck Trace, it's fab having kittens. I've just got two left now and hopefully they'll be going next week. They're pretty ugly when they're first born and look like mice though!!!

Thanks for the advice Al n Shabbs!!

She as become more loving recently, she'll sit on my lap whilst in on here and purr away! I have set out a kinda bed thing for her in the spare room next to the radiator, wheather she'll use it or not is another thing! I hope she does cause theres not really anywhere else thats out of the way to go!!

She still runs around for a few minutes chasing her tail but not as much as she did when we first got her, she'd run up n down stairs all bloody night!! lol

Anyway, thanks again for the advice, getting rather excited and nervous thinking about it!! :D
