KLF - Last Train To Trancentral cat# KLR008R - I'm after an original copy of this, I've only got one of the re-presses. What I wondering is can someone who has the original release give me exact details on the cover, because there are definite differences - most notably the bar code. I'm fairly sure Shooms amongst others has got the orig release.

I have it, at least I think it's the one you're after. I'll get you the details tonight if no one's already done it.

Cheers for that - strangely enough it will do me fine - there's a method in my madness. Just to verify the barcode is on the cover.

copy is worth a fortune if i'm not mistaken

but for your info
http://www.klf.de is a bloody good site

Nice, I've made a nice few quid on gash tunes I didn't want in the 3 or 4 months since I found this place. That KLF site is well handy too, used it once or twice before.

Make my day Nathan and tell me what you reckon this would go for?

Wildpitch,

Before the represses came out last year if a copy was on ebay it was regularly selling for 100quid+, and an original press will probably still go for this amount

I saw one copy in Music & Vid Exchange in Soho?? last year for 40 quid, and the cover was fekked if thats any guide

It is an essential tune that everyone should own. Im glad I got my copy all those years ago:phones: :phones: :phones: :phones:

How do you tell if it`s a repress.Mine say`s 1989 on the writing in the centre but does`nt have a bar code in the centre. It has remix 1&2 on it also but it`s not the usual klf promo cover.

I got sucked into the bidding war last year or the year before on ebay for 008R - finally went for a whopping 250 USD if I remember rightly:eek: Then a week later I came across 008R & also Pure Trance 1 (WTIL) & the Blue Danube mix of 3AM on a vinyl site - got all 3 for 35 quid I remember :p :D :king:

WP mate - totally agree that everyone should own a copy of 008R - tis a tune & a half

Not sure m8, Ive got a w/l promo copy (deffo not a bootleg) in the generic KLF sleeve which I paid 20 quid for in 1990. I was a student then & 20 quid was a lot of money, fortunately didnt have to sacrifice a night out ;)

Ive also got one of the represses that came out last year. Ive no idea of what barcode its supposed to be, or whether that distinguishes an original from a repress. The KLF were a bit funny like that. I heard they binned their entire back catalogue..?? Its all a bit confusing:axe: :axe:

Right, tell you how I got on. I emailed 4 sellers on GEMM, who had listed the right cat#, asking if they could give me the barcode on the cover. One came back with an out of stock, two had no barcode on the cover. But one came back with :drum: "hi the klf 12" has the following number under the barcode 5 017139 200084 all the best from Mr X, X Records", so I asked what price he'd do it bypassing GEMM's surcharge (sorry Butty but had to be done), and he came back with a price of....£26 including p+p. Pretty good eh. I haven't actually got the record yet, hence the Mr X, X Records bit, but it's no longer listed for sale on GEMM, which is a good sign. If anyone is after a copy themselves avoid Moremusic ($54) and Vakuum ($92) cause they're the ones without a barcode.

Of course all this doesn't necessarily mean that the one with the barcode isn't an earlier repress, it's just not the same repress from last year (which, in some cases, also came with a fake mail out promo sheet).

Cheers for everyone's help, especially Wildpitch for supplying the all important barcode.

Waheeey! I knew I had plenty of stuff worth something in my collection, from what I've learnt since signing up to the good ship OSA I reckon if I sold in the right places I could clear my mortgage!

Thanks OSA.
