Thought I'd share this one with you.

I won this auction the other day for 101 - Rock To The Beat under the pseudonym Phat_Freddy.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4023879406&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

The blokes postage was £3 which I personally think is plain wrong. However it was the stupidly obvious false bumping up of the price which astounded me. You'll have to bear with me on the explanation.

First of all I got 3 emails saying I'd been outbid each time with slightly lowering amounts. Then if you check out the retractions on the bid history. Some bastard just doesn't want to win the auction, instead get just below my maximum!

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws3/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=4023879406

I sent the seller an email at the end saying I no longer wanted the item:

Hi mate,

I won the above item from you. However, I couldn't help taking a look at the bid history, and there is a number of retracted bids, which smarts heavily of false bumping of the price up to my maximum. I'm not saying this was the case here, but I find it very suspicious that there could be so many retractions.

As such I no longer want the item from you. I will be more than willing to pay your ebay fee, but unfortunately I cannot take the item from you under those circumstances.

Sorry,

Freddy

Was bored tonight and sent the bloke another:

Alright there Big Fella,

Been re-looking over the bid history and the retractions. Old blocksgadget and soulfuric01 were in a serious tiswas when it came to entering amounts weren't they.

As well as the retractions on the Bid History page. I also noticed 3 emails saying I'd been outbid, where someone had bid 3 times in close sucession, each time going slightly lower. It's as if someone didn't want to win the auction!!! Especially blocksgadget, the poor confused fool, he kept on retracting his bids by 50p. He was only happy when he wasn't actually the winner, just slighty under their maximum! What a bizarre chap! You've also got to ask yourself, does it seem a bit spooky that blocksgadget and soulfuric01 bid exactly the same amount within 5 mins of each other, and then both retracted their bids, giving exactly the same reason, verbatim? If I was a betting man, I bet I'd get decent odds on this happening purely by coincidence! The 2nd bid by blocksgadget, where they entered the same amount of £8.50 must only, I presume, have come from heavy drug use. Not content with that mind they bid £8.00 another 5 mins later and stuck with it. Neither the £8.50 or the £8.00 bids were winning bids. What was going through their head??

I'll be honest with you, this level of incompetence is good going. Don't ever ask me to take part in a bank robbery with you.

I've got to ask a few questions: had you had a prolonged smoking session? Had you just returned from a night of very late drinking? Had you got back from a clubbing session? Were you under the influence of serious mind-bending drugs? Were you so pilled out of your mind that you couldn't focus on the screen well enough to make out individual numbers? I's just got to know I tells ya!

Cheers,

Freddy

He sent us this reply:

Lol - nice one Jonno...

I was outbid by Blocksgadgets on a TouchFM item too and thought sommat fishy was going on. The fella must have been sat there checking his stuff over cause I tend to only bid in the last twenty mins aswell.

The majority of items they seem to have won were from TouchFM...

http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewBidItems&userid=blocksgadgets&completed=1&all=1&rows=25

He even leaves feedback for himself.....LOLOLOLOL

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=blocksgadgets&item=4023619593&iid=4023619593&frompage=222

The guy must be a prize turnip tho - surely now he pays the listing and final value fees and ends up still with the item and feck all to show for it, which on them technics aint going to be cheap...:cops:

Please don't tell me he even posts the stuff to himself too....?????

LMFAO

Mart

report it to ebay get them banned
I did think about it. You could probably get all 3 accounts banned.

Isn't it illegal in this country to falsely raise the bids??

Either way, I thought a naming and shaming to be a better course of action.

Sorry about that Shooms :$

Looks like everyone had a swipe on that begger!

If it's any consolation, my swipe was about £70. Not that will be any consolation though come to think of it :axe:
LOL - it shows that you got the tune AND deeper pockets ;)

Ebay would definatly ban him for it - but he could easily register again anyway - put it in his feedback instead :cops:

another rip off like this but actually perpetrated by ebay,

second chance offers,

if you bid £10.50 on a £4.99 item so you are presently winning this item at £4.99, some one then bids £10, they aren't the highest bidder so they then bid £15.00, the bid goes to £11.50 in there favour, they then pull out and you get a second chance offer.

WHY THE F.U.C.I<. DO YOU GET IT OFFERED AT £10.50, ALL THE BIDS FROM THAT EBAYER SHOULD BE SCRAPPED, ITS JUST EBAY MAKING A FEW MORE PENCE AND THE SELLER GETTING ALOT MORE FOR AN ITEM OF A GENUINE BIDDER
