Cheap accommodation for lads weekend (Newcastle)

Well next weekend me and my mates are going to Newcastle for my birthday. We will be staying 2 nights (Friday and sat).

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap accommodation? We just want something basic and nice.

In Blackpool it cost 25 a night for a nice bed and breakfast. Is there anything similar in Newcastle for a similar price?

Just asked one of the Geordies in the office

In the centre youre looking at a Travelodge type place 40/50 quid

25 quid - the Jesmond area, "wan or toooo miles ooota toon" but taxis will cost 5-10 so you might as well go for one in the centre (as hes just informed me)

was gonna suggest a travel lodge meself coz you can get 4 in a room in them places and it will still only probs cost you the £40/50:thumbsup:

been on a couple of stag do's in the Toon - both times we stayed at 'Jury's Inn' 1st time we got lucky cos this place had just opened so we got it dirt cheap -- but 2nd time it was about £40 if i remember rightly. Nice enough place though and smack in the middle of the toon :thumbsup: :cool:

I'm oota date cos I'm from there but not been back much in yonks...
as far as hurtels go, I reck yer best bet is to stop just ower the river in Gateshead at the Travelodge. You should be able to cab it back nee bother.

If you're looking for beery madness, then it's the Bigg Market you want, (where Newgate Street crosses Grainger Street)
Slightly more classy (it's Newcastle, don't forget) is The Quayside

Biggest Cab Firm round aboot Toon is Noda

If you do head up there, have a belter matey... If it's tightly packed bars & loose women yer after I don't think you'll go far wrong... :thumbsup:

Don't make this mistake... The Quayside Travellodge is double the price!

EDIT Apologies, I just read this back & it sounded really rude... Quayside Travelodge will save you a cabfare back (depending on where you finish up) but according to the websites it's £59 per night as opposed to £25 in the Gateshead one... Whitley Bay's not a bad night out either, but there's definitely more on offer in Toon /EDIT

Been there for last 3 yrs now. Its a mint night out with the lads. Infact get there early enough and you can make a day of it too. Especially with the day time strip show :D
