whats easiest and best cd or decks?

im an old old timer 35 went the quad when i was 16!?!- but not the kind to sit and tell you it was better in my day blahdy f...kin blah . (prob was though:D :D haha)
Now i used love going to clubs and watching the dj and always wanted decks and records . I had the records but just couldnt afford the decks!!


now a fair few years later im married with children - ive bought the decks and have set myself a little recording hole up down im my garage .

what i want to know is whats the crack with CD decks . Keep seeing all cd decks for sale and wonder if it worth trying to incorporate them into my current setup - believe im the greatest dj in my head but in reality its another story -but if im learning i might as well learn the the lot!

so as a question whats best and whats easiest to learn ??!>:crazy:

Loads out there will say Pioneer are the best.

I tried Pioneer and didn't like them so sold them on. What I had found are good are the Denon CD decks, they are cheaper as well - you can get 2 for less than the price of 1 Pioneer CDJ.

An alternative route is to not use CD's at all and buy a Denon Controller which has a CD type platter you can control 2 "virtual decks" if you like with the 1 controller, just needs an external USB hard drive to store your mp3/wav files on and you are laffin :D

In terms of ease, they are easier to use than vinyl and have a lot of features for looping and effects built in which can be handy too.

Pioneer CDJ 1000MK3 are priced around £769 each

Denon DNS 1000 are priced around £300 each

Denon DNHS 5500 Media Controller are priced around £700 (plus the cost of an external USB hard drive)

I picked up a couple of Pioneer CDJ100S FOR £85 from cash converters about three years ago and learn't how to use them pretty easily.So I would go for a cheap second hand set.I find it easier to mix with the cdjs but I still prefer my Technics 1210's.

They're £899 now lol

I picked a second hand pair up a couple of days ago. They're awesome and I love them, but they can get fucked for that price. No way I was buying new.

Dead easy to mix with, but in some ways I think vinyl is easier.

Wonder why they have hiked the price up :confused:

Industry standard my arse lol - should try the higher end range of the Denon's - more features and better control for cueing/manipulation.

I'm currently trying out Ableton Live Full Suite 8.0.1 and gotta say it's even easier than CDJ's - anyone could use Ableton as it auto 'warps' tracks for you so the beats always match, it's like dj'ing by numbers :LOL:

I currently have 2 x technics decks; 1 denon dnhs5500 and a pioneer cdj mk2 800- In all honesty im considering losing the cdj not cos i dont rate it but im not sure i really need it.

I would highly recommend the Denon as an all in one soloution however vinyl just has something special about it that mp3 just cant quite match.

Ps if you get the Denon from america it is £500 all in delivered :thumbsup:

For djing out, cd's are well more practical but if you just wanna play some tunes at home then a set of decks are a lot more enjoyable.
I agree about the denon ones being better but I have no complaints with the pioneer ones either.

Both have there pro's n cons...depends what sort of music u wanna play (drum and bass dj's still use vinyl because bass translates better than on mp3)...and to be honest-a piece of vinyl is far sexier than an mp3 u cant hold in ur hand. altho...mixing with cdj's is ace, and if u want to buy alot of music, it probably will work out cheaper to get cdj's and mp3's than to get the same amount of tunes on vinyl and use turntables...

i want both to be honest!hahaha

Down to pref really, but as lozzie says depends on what you want to play.

Personally I feel using mp3/cd is souless, but in some dodgy clubs i tend to take cd's rather than vinyl these days due to the fact a box of tunes got had off from the back of my motor a few years back and the cost to replace was immense where as mp3/cd is a mere drop in the ocean if it gets half inched.

As for ease of use, it again depends on what your used to, I find vinyl easier as thats where i started way back when and the transistion to using cd's was pretty much agaisnt my will but time they do a change so they say hehe, besides, my spare room looks ace with cuts neatly stacked on shelves :)

Got a bit off topic thre man hehe, My pref is denon, mine are bombproof and never had an issue with em all be it they are getting on a bit now, i find some pioneers laggy in unrespinsive but thats just my opinion.

You got a local retailer where you can demo them at all?
