As most of you know Lee asked me to marry him a few months ago and i obviously said yes after managing to close my gapping gob!! Now we were wondering just how much does a wedding cost, theres just so much to think about!! So, for the peeps that are/have been married, what would you say was a realistic amount to save for? We want a traditional wedding, church etc! I was thinking around £10,000!!

Thanks! :D

Hmmm, i think these days that would be extremley unfair! Although hopefully he will put towards! :p

As we both want this to be a day to remember we want the full works! Why not eh!! Although we are in no rush to get married right now, anyway if its ten grand we might be having to save then we've got no bloody choice!

Me & Dee did ours for about £6000/£7000 that was with all the trimmings and thats including the honeymoon.
We didnt go mental paying out loads for stuff but we didnt skimp either
Its easyer if you plan what you want get the prices for them then add another grand just incase.
We may still have our list of things to do if you want a copy. lol

oohhhhhhhh trace go on girl, get yasel all excited bout the up-coming wedding! :D nice one to armando n dee dee for all in for 7000, excellent, coz i thought it wud be bout 10,000 - if yr wanting the full traditional style its bound to cost a bomb .... mind u i can just imagine u with the full white wedding scenario!

i honestly cud never spend this amount of money on getting wed, me and walshy have talked about it loads and looked at tons of stuff on the net, and wedding brochures and we wont be spending thousands on getting married, all that money on one day its crazy, wud rather spend it on our life together with our boys.. and u still can hav a beautiful wedding that doesnt cost the earth, only it will be a small do, family, closest friends, somewhere nice and hav a party when we come back!   and i cant wait! lol

Chav-ville Droylsden, innit!
I'm sure ours didn't cost as much as £10k either... :p

And we went a bit mad with the venue and stuff, I am sure it was well under £10,000.

I say 'we', I do of course mean my wife Sarah, who organised absolutely everything. I think the earlier you book stuff like the venue, DJ, catering, it works out cheaper than 'last minute' stuff.

Worth every penny though... :)

Cheers Minxy n Red Mancunian! :D

Im sure £10,000 is in excess of what a wedding would cost (well a normal type one), like you minxy i wouldnt want to spend all that money, its just so much! But i would definalty want one of the most memorable days of my life and im sure that will be one with what ever money you choose to spend. I definatley want a big white wedding, haha i think its most girls dream! We've talked and looked at dresses and suits for both of us but havent really looked at anything else yet. One thing i do know and thats that we've gotta start saving! lol

Sniffing glue........again!
My parents took out a loan to pay for my sisters wedding, she had a big do!!! That means that i should get the same. :D

I keep asking them to give it to me in cash and just forget about the big wedding, when i get married as long as i'm with the person i love with all my heart and my closest friends and family are there then i couldn't really care less about the rest. I'd rather use the money to put towards a nice house for us to live in.

That said.................nice dress is a must!!!!

All the best Trace, i hope you have the wedding of your dreams chick.

I got married in the summer so I can give you some idea of costs...

The Church you pay some small fees for your Bands of Marriage, and for the bell ringers etc less than £100 in total i think.

If you are having a Chruch wedding, I strongly recommend paying for a Chior - makes such a difference to hear some big Anthem style hymn being uplifted by decent voices - makes the hairs stand up on your neck. Lots of our mates are not churchy people and do not sing loud to hymns so it was a good investment for a nice atmosphere in the Church - all the guests commented how cool that was with a choir. (think that cost about £400)

The venue is the biggest expense and depends on the number of guest you are catering for.

We choose a hotel who organised all the catering and also meant people could crash over the night if they wanted etc

Venues anything from £200 - £8000

But Village and communities halls are a lot cheaper etc

Disco Daves Cheesy disco - cost £250 - £450

Wedding photagrapher - £1200

Flowers etc £300 +

Suit Hire say for 8 blokes £700 +

Wedding Dress £1000 - £3000
Then all the other bits like presents for Bridesmaids, parents, bestman, ushers etc

Honeymoon make sure you put as much in as possible - this is the one holiday you should not scrimp on £2500 +

Hope that helps

Cheers, yeah that does help, i like the sound of a choir, not into all that kinda stuff really but a choir would be ace, proper hair raiser, i reckon i'd feel overwhelmed when there belting out a tune!!

As for a venue for the reception, i once went to a reception at Blackburn Rovers grounds :$ (not my fault) and it was lovely, the view from the window was great (would have been better if it were uniteds!) the food was great and there was a bar open all day n night, nice size dance floor for ya uncles to shimmy on n all! lol ...and you got a tour around the grounds, but i didnt take that offer up! But tbh we havent talked about a venue yet, thats something that definalty needs thinking about as we have realtives from different areas, although i have a few in manchester aswell.

We both want to marry in a church in the countyside somewhere away from other peeps eyes, just the peeps that were invited! A nice private affair with no traffic noise etc....

..and then one huge piss up at night with everybody!! :p :pixie:

As for the honeymoon we were thinking around £3000+ for that! :)

Ten Grand

Think I'll be needin' some overtime! (or start making crack in me garden shed! ;))

Only intend doin it the once (of course!) so I probably want just as many trimmins as Trace. Don't care about the money really, thats what I freeze me knackers off every day for anyway so we can have a nice(ish) lifestyle, not into stashin it for a rainy day that never comes.

Got plenty of savin time anyway, cos we both agree theres no big rush, sayin that... I'd like to have at least a few hairs that haven't gone grey by then tho' :S

My last wedding was around the 13 thousand mark, a big chunk was on the catering though. I had my reception at Kilghey Court in Standish, its a beautiful Victorian house. I know you are local to me Trace, so if you looking at venues i can definatly say this is a good one.

So we went and got married in the Dominican Repuplic with 12 friends and family around us i would'nt of done it any other way it was fantastic.
we paid for our all-inclusive holiday and the wedding package cost around 500 on top it included

hunnymoon suite
and then when we got home we had a big reception in a hotel for all the people who could'nt come with us it was the best day of our lives:love:
