Hi all , Just going thru the tedious task of ripping some of my vinyl. Problem is I keep getting to much treble (messing with my amp has no effect). Ive been using Magix audio cleanic to rip , but instead of having to process my waveforms (to reduce treb etc) I want to use a software that you can setup your Equaliser before recording so I dont have to mess about with the waveform after. Any suggestions ?

Do you have a mixer ??

use the EQ on your external mixer for adjustments etc..

If you do not have an external mixer... then you can set levels within Cool edit for recording... so you can reduce treble etc

to be honest I don't use EQ Cool Edit that much... only if I have a poor quality tape rip that I want to improve..

No software will help with eq BEFORE you record! However cooledit wavelab and soundforge and most similar programs have filters and graphic equalizer type dooberrys which you will be able to use to reduce the treble afterwards. There must be a reason you're ending up with too much treble though... how do you have your deck connected to the PC? Are you sure your needles aren't shafted?

I suspect its just a HIFI turntable right? Plastic arm and cheapish needle? That often gives too much 'tinnyness' and treble. If Im worng, well that irons that out the equation lol.

I cant remember any software that has pre recording filters, but things have evolved since I knew almost every program out there lol. I have a mini studio mixer - Folio Notepad (Spirit) that has treble and bass controls, so that can be set before its piped through it to the PC.

I'll have a look.

i had this problem too ..... then one day it just went :S think it was because i started to rip with my gains right down, which i feel gets the best quality mp3 .....

you could take your treble down in cool edit, then select 'hard limiting' which may help .... i generally do it in mixes so long as ive kept all my levels at a pretty average level .... another option is 'normalising' but this is used to basically average out the noise which can in mixes can lead to less bass in places than others etc

i'm by no means a pro lol but by messin with it a bit i usually get there in the end lol just get cool edit and mess with it, theres loadsa stuff which you'll find interesting and helpful in there ...... :)
