I dont want to sound like a tosser with this but what is quite cheaply?

I do have one from a brand new 1200 complete from base to headshell including all adjustments from where a friend who is a hifi nut has replaced his tone arm with a straight arm for improved sound etc. As said this is new and ive kept it in case as 2 of my 4 1200's are now 15 years old and may at some time need a new arm.

PM me and will discuss, do want to help out but also dont want to shoot myself in the foot

Will now get off my high horse.

Strange that, as straight are suppose to be for scratching and s shaped are supposed to be for sound quality:S

Straight tone arms give much better sound, most top end decks have straight arms. For dj'ing purposes you are correct. Technics are actually a very poor hifi deck as they have magnetic interferance due to the braking system.

Anyway original message stands.
