I think the list is a tally of tunes that defined genres and broke the mould leading to new movements within dance music (with the exception of that American Beauty tune). Most Italian tunes just sampled or copied what was already there, sometimes better, sometimes worse.
I'm really shocked that that ^^^ never made it in there. Must be because it was really hard to get hold of back in the day cus copies used to change hands for 25 quid.
:S Yeah not necesarily the best Dance tunes ever some of them,but defo a few in there .For me from that list...'Jack Your Body' and 'Strings of Life'.I voted for 'Jack your body' in the end due to the fact that in managed to chart (was it not a number 1?) back in a time when most people hadn't even heard that sort of music before.

To be fair, it is Radio 2, so considering the choice, and the MOR audience, its probably pretty groundbreaking and the panel have all at one point or another been at the top of the game. Gotta remember, we are all purists and Radio 2 ain't gonna look to entertain the trainspotters are they? I'm gonna go with Maceo or S2S - love that line about "yellow is the colour of sunrays". Reminds me of being 13, playing on the swings and trying to neck birds in the summer hols! Probably reminds a lot of people on here of more illicit pleasures!
