take it you wasnt there in the glory days then mate, the guy is a god if it wasnt for him (an andy carroll) liverpool would of missed out on probably 2 of the best clubs in the country, state an the quad, yeah he aint the best mixer but he can get a club bouncin like now other dj FACT where else do you hear tunes like force legato-system to open a set ?? nowhere.....chill an enjoy the nite

I wasnt there as I didnt live anywhere near Liverpool and I'm not dissing the Quad or the music.
I went to loads of places that played tunes like Force Legato - System as some other clubs had glory days too ;)
I just think that the same line up over and over again is slightly lazy and suggested that a few other DJs would make me return to the reunion (which I did enjoy last time but maybe not next time as repetition is never as good as the first time).

At the end of the day, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!

I don't think people really know how much effort goes into putting nights on and the Quad night have shown to be some of the most successful Oldskool night around.

I mean you can't argue when you have 1500+ people in your club getting down to the business.

The DJ's they have on, have proved there worth 10 fold and I would say is most promoters dream to have a bunch of residents so popular with the local people.

Am sure Boxing Day will be a sell out.

Respect

really

yes "really" i went to see john peel (RIP:( ) dj in the masque few years ago and he played all kinds of different styles of music rock , punk , electro , techno , house , downtempo tunes all nite , never mixed a single track just knew when to drop a tune in and get a reaction (which he did:cool: ) and the atmosphere in there was electric

IMO its always been about 2 things the right music + the right people , thats what makes a great dj and a fantasic night :)

as for the dj line up being lazy + repetative , its a quad "reunion" not an old skool night in general a "quad reunion" and it does what it exactly what says on the tin , :)

People vote with their feet and all the Liverpool reunions have been a major success.
The people i have met at these events will be friends for life and the djs i know put a lot of effort into the music selection yet knowing that the classics will have most appeal to the dancefloor !
A lot goes on behind the scene's in putting this night on and lazy it is not it remains a true reflextion on how the Quad was.
It might not appeal to the bedroom djs out there but the fact is all the djs who play make the people dance.A dj plays for the dance floor and not for themselves !!!

Come on, we've all witnessed some bad mixing at some points, so what the mixing goes out/clashes - it's over with before you can blink anyway!

Drugs cover a multitude of sins as I've experienced with Ali Whitehead thinking his mixing was "smooth blending" when in fact i've listened back to his recorded set from a night and was amazed that a lot of mixing wasn't as good as I'd imagined = :fekked:

I haven't been to a quad night, so I can only form my view from hazy and it was all good then, at least they haven't got Mr Park on ;)

If I remember correctly, we both used to dread Knowler coming on at Hazy and would venture upstairs for more "Varied" music which was "Mixed" better ;)
I think some people DO care if the DJ mixes well yourself included :)

Has the Quad do got 2 rooms like Hazy had, if so, there's the option to go check sommat else out if something isn't to your liking...

I think at the end of the day, we are a minority in preferring well mixed & varied sets, the majority of people that go to old skool events just want to re-live the dream and aren't fussed about the mixing and selection as long as there's familiarity.

If you were Mike Knowler, would you play what people want to hear to get booked again?

I probably wouldn't, as I'd want to play other stuff, but then I wouldn't be fussed if I didn't get asked back :D

There is just the one big room so if you are stuck with him and I know you would hate that ;) :(

I only wanted a bit of variation but the Liverpool Knowler lovers (similar to Leeds Luigi lovers) dont seem to want that and I have never understood that closed attitude :|

There is more than one dj playing at the Quad reunions so variation does happen on the night. At the last reunion Pluto and Ian Kenyon played the forgotten tune's of the Quad,Andy Carroll played a lot harder than before and John Kelly dropped some acid. That is VARIATION

I don't think it's a case of closed mindedness, as I've said the majority are happy with familiar tunes as has been proven with almost all old skool nights that are successful and have run over a year or more/are still running...

Different Strokes for Different folks and all that, maybe the Legends heads wouldn't dig Quad nights, vice versa, but there is the choice there of different nights to go to.

I think as time goes by, there will be less and less of these nights around, so people can enjoy them now whilst they are still on.

Or, they can stay in and be grumpy :p hehe

im like herpes....never quite fcuk hoff!!!
i went to the last quad and it was my first, and im gonna make damn sure i attend future quads!!

i loved the surroundings i love the deco, i loved the peeps and i loved the music..........there is not 1 bad thing i gotta say about it, yeah a bit of cheese was played but its each to there own innit??

so what if they have the same dj's on as in back in the day, thats what a reunion is isnt it?? in my opinion, they wouldnt have the same peeps on time n time again if the crowd wasnt happy..........and i was deffo!

i think the older you get you become more select about the type of music you like and critisise a dj's performance etc........in the days of glory did you give a rats arse whether a dj did spot on mixing, or during a 4 hour set, did you like every single tune...the dj isnt there to satisfy just 1 person, but the other 1499 behind you:love: this aint a dig, just my 2 penneth:D

Like ive said its not an across the board old skool nite with 2 rooms for cool tunes and cool mixing upstairs (which hazy had:thumbsup: ), its just a BIG quad reunion no more no less ,hazy offered a different old skool theme each month including several quad renuions with each individual quad dj playing ,and im sure most people who attended off here will agree here that these were ALWAYS very popular and ALWAYS rammed out and with most of the crowd staying downstairs;)
proving what i always knew and reinforced what i said to pluto 3 years ago that a "big" proper original quad reunion with ALL 3 djs on at same time playing all the big quad anthems in a massive venue just like the original quad is what Liverpool wants and needs , and that is exactly whats been achieved this year and its worked a treat ,better than anyone inc myself could have ever imagined a real original "turn back the clock" moment each time its on which im very proud of :) ,

i only post it on OSA ect to let the proper old skool fans of 89-92 tunes (the BEST era IMO :D ) know that theres a GREAT nite going off right under thier noses and it wont be here forever , the people of Liverpool know , love and support this event as its always more or less a sell out anyway so its not like im desperate touting for custom , id just really love to see more "Open Minded" fun loving old skool clubbers from all over the NW off here making the journey down cause it was people from all over the north west and beyond that truly helped make it what it was all those years ago in 90-91 :D and its happening all over again , so if your not planning anything boxing nite get your arses down to isis and join in the FUN !! YOULL BE MADE VERY WELCOME....

what is it with this site and dissing dj's. Pauly your unbelieveable. Why would anyone change a winning formula to suit you. If over a thousand people go to these nights surely they must be doing something right. When you gonna realise that MOST people don't really care about the mixing. scousers are like mancs, they just wanna go out and get out of it.
Now if your so good Pauly and u think you know how to do a night, put your money where ya mouth is and put a night on. Anyone can sit on the bye lines casting dispersions. Or will you be too busy wanking your decks of in your bedroom on your own and getting bitter cause your not playing yourself

I am not asking this night to change for me. If it was to suit me I would rather listen to Plutes play for 6 hours. I just suggested that a different line up would be good and maybe the inclusion of other special guests :p
John Kelly and Andy Carroll are legends and I have seen them both play loads of times back in the day and recently.

I used to run my own night and they were ace but at the moment have many other more important commitments. Why should I be bitter if I am not playing :| I prefer to be a punter these days :p

My decks are not in the bedroom and I have no need to wank much these days ;)
