Two new resident DJ’s @ Joy......
With the progression of the event for 2006, we have two more DJ's joining the team full time to look after the "new style music rooms" we have,
The first DJ should not need any introduction to the more decerning clubber and is non other that Renaissance / Ark legend and Joy fave IAN OSSIA who will at last feature at every event from the 4th March onwards… This guy has been one of my favorites from the very beginning of his career, which has been a long one at that, playing all the way across the globe with the likes of Sasha and co at some of the biggest and best venues and club nights that have come and gone over the years. he has just finished his latest Renaissance tour and decided Joy is now to be his spiritual home while he can concentrate on his remixing and producing career (he is coming up with some excellent material at the moment)
Look out for his awesome Electro/ progressive mix cd which I believe will be available in shops such as HMV very soon.
Ian will be playing mainly Electro sets at Joy, all brand new stuff with maybe a few slots in the classics room every now and then…
His first date as a full time resident will be March 4th.

The other new resident is another legend in his own right and in my opinion a massive influence in the uk house scene, ex Hacienda resident DJ, JON DA SILVA, ill let his biog do the talking…..a true legend and will be a massive part of where I want to take the Joy brand…..He will be working closely with Ian Ossia playing mainly Electro sets, again with the odd classics set occasionally.
Cited as an innovator and influence by DJs as diverse as The Midfield General, Sasha and Herbert, Dasilva’s reputation as a seminal DJ is secure. Following teenage stints in Punk-Funk bands playing guitar / drums, Dasilva was inspired by the wacked-out disco of DJs Levan and Kevorkian and sonic experiments of the likes of Can, Suicide and Adrian Sherwood of On-U Sound, and started DJing back in ‘86. Soon enthralled by the dark sound of Chicago House he moved to Manchester, England his heart set on DJing at the pre-E Haçienda. His mixing skills and innovative style were so impressive that Dasilva was quickly invited to become one of the club’s resident DJ’s on what was to become the legendary HOT night (88). Legend days they certainly were, The Hacienda (88-91) later being honoured as the “No.1 Club of All Time” by DJ Magazine... (Also, look out for his DJ appearance in the Hacienda scenes of the film “24 Hour Party People”!)...
As the U.K scene shifted up a gear Dasilva has found himself in great demand, playing every major club from coast to coast. This has included all Super-clubs as well the more cutting edge nights like Slam, Back-to-Basics, A.K.A and Planet K. Outside of the flourishing U.K club scene Dasilva has taken his individual style all over the world. From an I.D. Magazine and New Order/Hacienda tours of the States, several tours of Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, West and Eastern Europe, Russia, Israel and four recent tours of China… to memorable shows at Amnesia and Manumission in Ibiza.
Dasilva’s studio work started with a remix of The New Fast Automatic Daffodils “Big (Baka)” back in 1990, an inspired collision of Sheffield bleeps, African chants and dubbed out Indian tablas, it recently appeared on the Headman DJ mix CD (2005) and in many ways sets the tone for this unpredictable and idiosyncratic producer. Style wise Dasilva manages muscular beats and the dark twisted magic that is at the heart of great House/Electronica/Electro and is remarkably still true to the original, open minded ideal – mixing tempos and styles right across the spectrum. Jon Dasilva, “the acid house legend” (Jockey Slut Magazine), proves himself ever relevant in his own mercurial way.

Obviously, this does not affect the Revival of house room etc etc, that will be business as normal with the usual (and not so usuall!!!!) guests planned......
