dont think phil is really bothered about the shop any more when it first opened it was run by phil and his sister debbie who actually still own the zone name at company house .
even some of the zone d j 's worked their i think like andy p , chris baker , ect think chris baker now workes in p c world in blackpool if may memorey serves me right
last month i was in the shop having a noisey round as you do and was talking to him about the zones 3 birthday reunion .
and was asking him about the shop and he sead it had been broke in 4 times set on fire twice and flooded 2 is that shit luck or wot .
some of the record yer have been their for all most over a decade and some are the actuall record played @ the zone by barrie j . andy p . matt bell and i think he even ownes all of d j chris bakers record when he packed in d j 'in
and yer some are over priced put arn't all record shop unless you know the owner so you get 'em cheaper
it may be a hell hole but you can pull any record out of the racks in the shop and he can fined it in the back .
their is atually an order in the shop as you go in the first rack is the old skool / zone and if you look over to the wall that is were all the Italian and Spanish records are kept then fevr'er down to the right is were all the stuff the zone play now like wot john g players .
then near the counter is were he used to have all the zone Cd's .
it was a good shop back in the day when the zone was at the venue the old rangers bar / Hackett's .
but you can ask phil about any italian old skool / zone tune and he can tell you the name , label , year , month it was released .
top guy is phil and the man who foundered the zone name and the style of music they played back then when zone was playing old skool @ jenkes bar then they moved with the times and moved venue to the venue and started playing italian house music and some Spanish record or wot was press in spain .
it's just a pity the police hound'ed the phil / zone out of blackpool to preston where it all went down hill from their i think to the music they play now under the zone name .
if you go on www.italiandance.co.uk
their is a list of every song played @ the zone not sure if it as been updated
and the eary zone choonz are just plane old skool to day but the italian choonz are still italian classics before 95 after 95 the end of the movment it went iffy i think but each to their own .

Looks like Egyptian to me. Didn’t even bother trying to decipher it.

TBH i cant be bothered replying to you. After the week ive had life has really come into perspective. Its just little things this week are getting to me.

It doesnt help when i come on to this board to get a bit of escapism and some clever dick has his writing so small that it strains my eyes to adjust to it.

John J certainly used to work in Melody House but that was way back before the Zone had started or anything (the counter used to be along the side then and the place was light and airy and clean!)

Not too sure if I believe Phil's had that much bad luck either - I mean how do you have two fires but not damage the stock?? It's sounds more like he's making excuses for the place being such a disgraceful tip.

As I've said before, it's sad if he's supposedly got the records, but he tries to charge so much for them, because nobody will buy them and he'll just go out of business.

I don't think all record shops are overpriced either. Look at Vinyl Exchange - they charge the going rate but they're not overpriced, and they're always busy! The rent on Vinyl Exchange must be huge as well, far more than the shit hole that is Bond St in Blackpool (I can't believe the rent is going sky high because of the Casino interest either - I had a good walk round looking for charity shops and the other shops are mostly cheap rubbish - the kind of places you get when the place is going downhill like Morcambe).

thats not the case any more jonno I'm afraid, no new stock and no one buying the stuff they have.
They do charge above the goin rate, ve is expensive thesedays compared to the net, the difference with ve is that if you were to sell records to em, you get half of what they sell em for

Are you saying that Vinyl Exchange is struggling?

...

yeah i know the track, it aint nothing special

HTFR will pay £15 for it so how much does that mean they sell it for? do you treble the asking price or something

well were going through the same motions in the midlands

3 big big record stores closed or closing very soon.

even places like Reddingtons that has been selling secondhand for about 20 years is gone.

Massive records was pretty good and also gone and theres another on its way out selling old stock just to survive.

Seems vinyl may be on its down turn although i wouldnt be without it.

maybe its just the fact were decades on and the new music lovers wouldnt be seen dead with a piece of plastic and a turntable its more easier to do an MP3 mix stick it on your hardrive then plug a laptop into a sound system.

On a recent night out in Manchester that exactly what the DJ did and he just stood there pressing the FLANGE button everytime there was a build up.
