Do butterflies hibernate?? Because a few months ago a butterfly was buzzing round me house and landed on my attic door thing, it hadnt moved till last night, infact only last night did neil say to me ''its dead that'' and i said i'd shift it in the morning, but when i woke up it was in my bathroom, ive taken it out to the garden and its done one. (it could have over heard me n neil last night, lol) I didnt think butterflies hibernated till now, its mad that they can go into a deep sleep and not eat and drink for months, then just wake up and off they go, wouldnt mind doing that myself through the winter period. :D

yeah but your a freak TC, that ok tho i still lub ya :D

Moths are the good guys, butterflies dont hibernate, they just watch, all the time with the watching, thats why they sit still in the same lace for days, how else do you think everyone knows about the toffee apple incident on the landing Trace, that butterfly was watching,just....watching......

food for thought eh

i think you've inadvertantly omitted the key word here which explains the whole dilemma...

Do butterflies hibernate?? :D

YES THEY DO :D

How do butterflies hibernate or aestivate?
Butterflies hibernate as adults, eggs, immature caterpillars or pupae. To survive the extremes of the climate (cold in the winter, heat and drought in the summer, especially in tropical habitats) butterflies undergo a rest period called the diapause during which the vital functions are kept at the very minimum. No growth or development occurs in the egg, caterpillar or pupae, and the adult butterfly just hangs in a suitable place motionless waiting for better conditions to arrive. Sorbitol and glycerol are known to exist in the blood of some butterflies, and they function as natural anti-freeze agents.

They usually just land somewhere safe and thats it until they decide to get going again

You can be a halfwit sometimes even through your intelligence, they are nice looking to lure you into a false sense of security, when your backs turned hey go rifling through all your belongings to see if you should go to hell, they watch you 24/7, they are like the owls in the woods in the wizard of oz, what ever they see, the wicked witch sees. dont be fooled by them, all of you heed my advice, if you see one, roll up a news paper and go at it without mercy. you , your friends and family, heck the entire planet will be safer. the way they swim through the air at you, i pulled a wing off one the other day, it was still trying to fly, how can you trust something that still goes about its business with such an extremity missing...... be smart, be vigilant people, you rthe sake of humanity!!!!
