External Hard Drive

Hi everyone,

I not so long back invested in one of these:

Iomega Desktop Hard Drive 320GB USB 2.0/Firewire400/800: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

After about 3 months it would not detect as a drive on my pc. Worried as I have over 100gb of music, vids and pictures I thought to myself that if I am lucky enough to recover everything I will buy another hard drive as a back up.

Anyway a guy I know had a look and it seemed that it had a virus. He then installed the external hard drive to my pc so that it is now automatically turned on with the PC.

My question is, do you use an external hard and if so which one? Everything is fine but just with the amount of hour I have spent converting my old tapes to mp3 I would be annoyed if I lost everything

Thats an expensive HD for a 320gb Firewire,i bought a Lacie 1TB second hand of this guy:

LaCie D2 Big Disk 1TB Triple Interface Hard Drive on eBay, also, Internal External Hard Drives, Drives Storage, Computing (end time 10-Feb-09 18:10:40 GMT)

I got a Lacie 320gb as well i like Lacie HD's

I've also got a Lacie 1TB 'old brick' and a Freecom 1TB drive but the Freecom is slower, so the Lacie ones get my vote for speed and build.
