Butty's pub :D
Has anyone got one of these dogs? What are they like? Good around kids?

My boyfriend is after getting one but I’m not so sure. I’m not a dog lover anyway, my nana’s dog bit me and I grew up with him, I used to ride on his back and everything so I’ve little trust in them now.

Chris has wanted one for years so I feel I can't just say no, I have to at least think about it (then say no) lol

ive never had one but i know people who hav and they tell diffo sides of the story

one said pleasant animal lovely around kids etc and the other wouldnt have one again as it was a dog with bad temprament and you din know from 1 min to the next if it would bite again!

all i know is i wouldnt.....not with lil harribo mooching around:love:

suppose its the same with any dog realy and i suppose it has a lot to do with the way you treat them and bring them up etc

have you got a secure garden etc, will it be a dog thats always in the house and around people???

i know maff off here he breeds minature english bulls and his dogs is gorgeous......may be worth sending him a pm and asking advice

Its more about the owners than the dog, but bad breeding plays a part too, get one from a reputable breeder, take it to puppy training, socialise it well from an early age, plenty of exercise and most importantly id say is crate train it from the start and you wont go wrong:thumbsup:
We dont own a EBT we have an American Bulldog and a staffy cross both have reputations that they dont deserve just because of bad ownership, lovliest dogs we have ever owned, so much so that we are getting another AB after Christmas!...... PUPPY!!!! cant wait!:|

Ive got a staffy myself but know someone with an English bull and hes such a great dog, he was a bit of a chewer when he was a puppy and pee'd on the kids toys lol..he loves kids but hates cats and he has such a good temperament with other dogs. I would say if you train them well and love them lots, most dogs are the best friends youll ever have

Great photos maff! Love the one with your little lad and Bentley.
I've had a Staffy and my sister has had Staffy's and 2 English Bulls - they are great dogs. As mentioned before it's largely how you treat them from the off having a large bearing on how they turn out - a bit like kids!!!

And most of all they are all real characters!!!!

For me this type of dog is for someone who can make 100% sure that it's properly socialised as a pup with children people and other dogs.
