Paul Fitzpatrick (DJ NIPPER)

MUSIC CAREER PROFILE IN BRIEF

· I started DJ-ing in 1983 inspired by my new found love of Hip - Hop and Electro and then in 1987 I got my first DJ-ing Gig at a local nightclub in Manchester. From there I went on to be resident DJ at such clubs as…Hacienda, The Man Alive, Shelley’s, Hackett’s, Quadrant Park, Eclipse, Sterns and many more. In 1988 / 1989 I DJ ed at the infamous Warehouse Parties in and around Manchester and then onto the huge outdoor Dance Events across England in the late Eighties and early Nineties such as……….Rain Dance, Spectrum, Perception, Energy etc. I DJ ed extensively all over England and Europe with most of the now World Famous DJs such as Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Justin Robertson, Carl Cox, Mike Pickering, Graeme Park, John D` Silva, John Digweed, Todd Terry, Dave Angel etc…
· I was also support DJ for Dance Bands such as…808 State, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Prodigy, N - Joi, The Shamen, Bassheads, Evolution and many more.
· When I was the tour DJ for 808 State in 1990 I supported them across England and Ireland and the tour culminated in a concert at Manchester G - Mex Centre in front of 10 000 fans.
· I was named as “DJ of the Month” in ID Magazine in April 1990.
· From 1988 - 1991 I worked as a shop assistant and buyer for Eastern Bloc Records, Manchester. During this period of time Eastern Bloc Records was regarded as the most upfront, influential and largest independent record shop in the England.
· From 1988 - 1990 I worked on Manchester’s largest independent Radio Station - “Key 103” and during this period I worked alongside David Dunne on a successful Dance Show called, “The Isometric Dance Show” broadcast every Wednesday evening. I went on to DJ on most of Manchester’s local radio stations.
· In 1991 I recorded my first Dance single under the pseudonym, Kid Unknown - “Nightmare”, and in 1992 it was released on Warp Records and was very successful and reached No. 54 in the U.K.s National Music Chart and topped a few Dance Music Charts in magazines and Record Shops. A few months later I recorded the successful follow up single, Kid Unknown - “Devastating Beat Creator”, which reached No. 63 in the U.K.s National Music Chart.
· Then in 1992 I sacrificed my music career to embark on something I had wanted to do for such a longtime. I sold up and went traveling South East Asia for a little over a year. It was a decision I have never regretted and one, which changed my life. Once again I returned to England to resurrect and pursue my music career.
· I gained a residency at Manchester` legendary Nightclub, “The Hacienda” between 1994 - 1997 and started another successful period of DJ ing, Recording and Remixing once more over the next eight years.

· I designed, built and owned two recording studios in Manchester (1995 - 1999) and Liverpool (2000 - 2002).
· Established an independent record label called, “LCD Records” in 1998 with my partner and close friend Ian Bland (Dream Frequency, Dancing Divas and Quake). We released nine singles over a period of three years, and the label and singles gained remarkable success.
· LCD 003. Dejure - “Sanctuary” was released and instantly picked up by DJ Seb Fontaines own record label “Spot On Records” in October 1999. It went on to become one of Spot On Records best selling singles and then in 2001 it was licensed to Virgin Records and released in September 2003 reaching number 5 in the Dance Chart and number 61 in the U.K.s National Music Chart, was licensed Worldwide and appeared on numerous compilation Cds. It was LCD Records most successful release and has gone on to become a Trance Anthem Worldwide.
· LCD 006. Dejure - “Do you believe” was also licensed to Spot On Records.
· LCD 007 Red - “Heaven and Earth featured vocals by Kim Marsh (from English TV show Pop stars pop group, “Hearsay”). It was licensed to Slinky Records who released it in January 2001 to much success and it reached No. 41 in the U.K.s National Music Chart.
· DJ Sasha is one of the worlds most famous and successful DJs and on his debut Album / CD - “Air Drawn Dagger” released in 2002. I was credited as one of his inspirational figures in his music career.
