Over the last few years house and dance seems to be dwindling even further.
I live in London now, and I've heard it said its the Europeans, Italians, Spanish and Germans that are keeping dance music going. That's probably a big exaggeration, but there is probably some truth in it.

So what is going on round where you live?

i think the dance scene isnt as big as it used to be more people are going to see bands and stuff also i think the smoking ban has affected a lot of club nites as well as the credit crunch or maybe we are all getting older now ;)

We are all getting older lol but I personally think it has a lot to do with the changes in licensing laws. personally I stopped going to night clubs as often when Bars got later licenses and mates started up "Club"(or should that be Bar) nights. you could go to these bar and you'd have a more intimate crowd and know most of them, everyone would be up for it & there was no £10/12/15 door charge and it went on to 2/3am (anything after jsut gets messy lol) you were also guaranteed good music as it was your mates playing

if you think back, this was when all the big clubs closed down (Gatecrasher, back to basics, cream & the like)

Around here (Coventry/Leamington/Warwick) most of the younguns' seem to be into a mixture of hardhouse and techno. Whatever it is its played at breakneck speed.. Theres the odd oldschool hardcore night in Coventry but with door prices around £12 just until 3 or 4 am its a little pricey. Birmingham (as ever) seems more clued up in terms of house music. To be honest, in the last couple of years there seems to have been a resurgence in dance music among the youth going by the number of car stereos i hear. A couple of years ago youd rarely hear any 'repetitive beats' on the streets so to speak - i just wish they listened to 'proper' house music ;)

ha ha made me chuckle that did...wonder what people thought of our scene 20 years ago:S

I remember 20 years ago :$.
The old guard of people who had grown up in the age of Stones/Beatles/Floyd/Elvis. Generally preferred the mediocre pap of Whitesnake/Bon Jovi/Europe. Than the then new dance music; which I still bizarre to this day. They were lucky to have lived through such a rebellious/enlightening/boundary busting time. Yet they did not want us to enjoy an alternate but similar experience  And had greater affection for colleagues that were rockers.
I'm still waiting for the next big musical thing to happen. Nowt doing for 15 years or so :p

There's no shortage of great music being made at the moment, in fact its never been as good. my problem is there's not many places playing it in the UK :(

Take your cats, wife & baby & get the fuckoutta my country then ;)

I'm sure there are Pauly - we just don't go there :(

Same for Electric Chair - I still beat myself up about that... although not as much as you should... :p
