Anyone else had this thing, after two days of living with my flu infested flat m8, and having being stressed out at work with 3 members of my staff being ill due to it. I thought i had escaped this dam summer flu everyone is getting.

But...alas no such look, i awoke at 3am this morning with a throat that felt like i had been drinking paint stripper, and a head in a vice. To top it all off it is my day off aswel, now if i aint better, and takethe rest of the week off sick, its gonna look like im pulling a sicky, just so i can watch the world cup....im not even botherd about the dam world cup:mad:

Anyone else out there had this dam thing, as i just want to get better in time for Jenwah's birthday this saturday:( :( :(

By flu he actually means a slight cold!!;)

Errrrm, try sitting on a couch all day hallucinating and having your walls change colour without the aid of LSD. Hot and cold shivers, a prescription of antibiotics from your GP and then measure it up against a lady’s want to put a hot water bottle on her belly once a month, because she has a tummy ache....awwwwww bless

I think a cold can have similar symptoms to the flu, but the flu also affects your muscles which makes it really hard to move anywhere. I was in agony in bed when I had it and although I really wanted to turn over, it felt like the hardest thing in the world doing so and about 20 minutes of planning :|

Common Cold

Symptoms:

A cold develops gradually. Initial symptoms of runny nose, sneezing, and chills are followed by coughing, headache, sore throat, loss of appetite, and nasal discharge. If fever is present, it will be low-grade (less than 101 degrees).

Cold Facts:

The common cold is caused by more than 200 different viruses. There are currently no antibiotics that are effective against colds. Medications can help relieve symptoms, but there is no cure.

Flu / Influenza

Symptoms:

The flu most often hits abruptly, with a sudden high fever, dry cough, and headache. Other symptoms may include muscle aches, weakness, a sore throat, runny nose, and red, watery eyes that are sensitive to light.

Flu Facts:

Like a cold, the flu is a viral infection and there is no cure. It is spread through person to person contact and through sneezing and coughing. The flu can make people of any age ill. Most people are sick for only a few days, but some have a more serious illness which may require hospitalization.

Once a person gets the flu, not much can be done except to alleviate the symptoms. The best treatment is prevention by immunization.
