CIDER....CIGS....BOYS...MAKE UP...MUSIC!! lolol Not in that order though! :D

I went to see a careers advisor a few months ago, cos Im starting an interior design course :)

I didnt actually go for careers advice tho, (cos I knew exactly what I wanted to do) but I went for help on funding :D

The guy was slightly patronising at first, but once I said that he neednt be like that with me, he changed and was actually very helpful

The thing is they are used to dealing with teenagers who have no idea what they want to do and have generally been dragged along by someone else. When they see someone who actually has some sort of focus, I think it slightly throws them lol!!!

Dont let them sway you into something which youre not keen on. Explain exactly what it is youre looking for and then see what they say.

It all depends on what sort of advice youre looking for really. Ask them for internet sites to go on and also some sort of reference books :) I have been reading a forum all about the course that Im going to do and its great to get other peoples views that are doing the same course and have been doing it for a yr or so :D

I have really researched the course that I want to do, spoke to quite a few different people including interior designers and have been happy with all the advice that I have recieved

I start my course on Friday and I cant bleeding wait :jumpin: :D :spin:

Good Luck Tracey, and remember do what 'you' want to do and when 'youre' ready ;)

hiya petal  good luck with the careers advisor, there sound people in my experience and all helpful with your focus and direction honey giving strong reliable advise and information  you will be fine though tracy because your already there with the back up of knowing the direction in which you want to go petal ;) its a great head start.
Dont really know what to say about the psycololgy route flower as there are so many areas to it as you know,, but im guessing from my own same feelings surrounding the forensics that when you have a taste of a few different areas which sould be covered early in the course ,,one will stand out to you and sway you in that direction sweetie. Good luck it will all come together even if you feel blown away by it all at first dont think your on your own honey cause everyone will be feeling the same :D take care

Thanks for the advice Sweet. :) I did wonder if i would get swayed into doing something i hadn't thought of and wasn't that keen on doing, i suppose it's like you said, there used to teenagers who have been made to go and see them and have no real idea on what they want to do. I do know for sure that i want to do psychology, its just what area, i keep changing my mind, Child, Criminal, Health, Clinical!! I think i shall take your advice and go in there and tell them i want to do x and i am interested in y and z and then ask them what they recommend. Thanks again, and good luck with your interior design course!

Andy, I live on my own in a quite expense house, I have debts coming out of my eyeballs, I have 2 cats, one of which is back in the vets as we speak costing me over £200, I have a car and also have loads of bills to pay and at the moment Im not working!!! This course is costing me £2000 and thats not including materials and stuff, so if you really want to do something, no matter how hard and impossible it may seem at first, Im sure youll find a way ;)

Bloody hell and there was me thinking i was hard done by lol. I feel embarrassed now :$ I would like to do something its just a matter of having the same sort of income while i am learning. I thought about an evening class but depending on wat i decided it would take up loads of my spare time and with working 45 hrs a week and playing football twice at the weekends i would never fit it in.

I suppose its a matter of how much you want it really.

Good luck to you lot that have done it or about too anyways.

Andy
