Does anyone play guitar. How hard is it to teach yourself?

I love a lot of rock, indie riffs folk songs and wouldnt mind learning.

Is it better to buy accoustic or electric?

I play a bit , had classical lessons for a couple o years in ma teens, got to grade 5, You can pick up cords from books, online tuition is cool nowadays, but to really learn you gotta give up at least an hour every day, probably more to really improve, time I'd sooner spend on me desks, my instrument of choice.

electric is usually easier because of the neck thickness and fret distance, but if you buy acoustic dont get a classical or spanish style guiter, go for a nice quality folk guitar with a slim neck and steel strings, try bay you can pick em up cheep.

Depends what style you want to play - sounds like you want to play rhythm (chords) rather than lead (notes)

I'd get a semi-acoustic so you get the best of both worlds

Ovation guitars are the Technics 1210's of the semi-acoustic world but can be expensive (but they are lush).

Worthy pasttime to take up Sprewell - I miss playing
