A PSYCHOPATHIC knifepoint robber showed his own intestines to a shocked solicitor, a Teesside judge heard.
Darren Embleton staged the visceral display in a Middlesbrough court cell.
His barrister Peter Wishlade told of the gruesome episode as he explained the troubled offender’s tendencies to commit crime and harm himself when life got too much.
He said: “I saw Mr Embleton in the bridewell at Teesside Magistrates’ Court in 2004.
“He proceeded to remove from his stomach the bandages that he had, open his wounds and remove his intestines to show me. That is not the behaviour of anyone who is normal.
“It was one of the more distressing incidents that occurred to me, one where I was frantically pressing the button, but no one came quick enough.
“That is the sort of person, unfortunately, we’re dealing with.”
Embleton, 36, was jailed for five years at Teesside Crown Court yesterday for using a knife to rob £8 from a man in his own home on February 10.
He said he relapsed into crack cocaine use when he went searching for his drug dealer in some Middlesbrough flats.
Instead he rushed into the home of an innocent man, Eric Kenny, held a kitchen knife inches from his neck and threatened to stab him.
Embleton forced him at knifepoint to knock on the doors of the other flats, to no avail, said prosecutor Jacqui Edwards.
He then demanded money, and took £8.
As he left, Embleton threatened to take revenge if Mr Kenny informed on him.
