got to the New Picket about half 11,was impressed with the place,cracking little venue,good to see Shazza and Lee,Bren,Derek,Elvis (with his camcorder) and a few faces ive not seen for years.Mike knowler was playing when i got in and dropped some decent classics that me and sheila had a good boogie to.Was not impressed with Andy Carrolls selection of music ,errrr hello it was meant to be oldskool being played not new stuff ,he came on after Mike k and everyone just stopped dancing,very disappointed by his set,doubt i will attend another for that reason,few nobheads in there especially the lad behind me who got lashed out for trying to spark someone

Jumped a cab as ive never been to the picket and nearly got dropped off in hardman street ahhhhhhh OLD PICKET PLACE WTF... anyway finally got there 5 mins after 10.

Was nicely greated outside by John Kelly having a crafty fag he looked freezing place looked ace from outside looked like a proper warehouse from the back nice door staff who gave me the once over for any dodgey gear. Then was met by Andy carol who was up for a good night told him my story of cab madness and then he said go check place out youll see why we picked it. phones:

Once I got through the doors could see straight away it was going to be a good night the place was just the right size and great setup with stage for people who love to get up and raze there hands and boogie the night away all the smilley faces on the walls and a nice little breathing space out back for when you get to hot and for the smokers of course the bar was big enough and 3 quid a can of red stripe done me fine. Met alot of new faces plus friends peter kenny and his girl emma and all osa crew in the corner and dotted all over the club First dj i couldnt see but warm up was amazing by him im sure it was one of the djs sons played some proper classic oldskool tunes so I got a few beers down me neck and got camera out for a quick film around then bumped into Mike knowler who was on the search for a friend so it was quick hello then back to the dancefloor shazza and her fella turned up then Tag and his loverly lady good to see you both again and the place seemed to get warmer and more packed. I must admit straight away it was the most funniest and brilliant oldskool nights especially when some girl got up with the smallest mini skirt ever on the stage and was trying to do one arm ROCKY BALBOA push ups the only thing rising was her skirt what a laugh she was and this other fella with one of them hats you get wooly bobble hat with pull down ear warmers he hit the stage first and was raving like there was no tommorow and then was joined by the one arm press upper ive not laughed so much in all me life..

Mike played some brilliant tunes and quiet alot of piano stuff which got the crowd going. Then Andy carol played a mixture which was right up my strret some great tunes GOTTA HAVE HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LOOONNNNG... Got me raving and alot of shakey camera work....phones: phones: then for the last hr John Kelly rocked the place and when the crowed screemed for more at the end it was done proper Quad styley and a few more where belted out for us who stayed till the end... Everyone knows you cant go back to 1988 and rave. But god knows the ones that still want to party like there 17 again should be able too and I can only say if you want too get down to the picket its well worth it.

As for trouble I never seen anything but then again I never get involved in that shitee... I think if you go to have a good time and go with an open mind there is always gonna be a dick or 2 even house parties have them.
Theres always A uncle knobhead somewhere trying to spoil things. Even ive fell on people in the club when im off it, just depends if they wanna give you a smack, or pick you up and help you on your way. Not everyone in the world is a happy head on the beers or other stuff. Ive been to loads of oldskool nights and must admit I would rather go to one of them than venture into town on me own. Thanks to everyone who worked on the night and all the people who met up and had a good time you made my night one of the best ive had for a long time...

Big shout to John kelly Andy carol and Mike Knowler Keep the quad memory alive

The only let down i forgot me normal camera for pics so if anyone got any would love to see some from the night il be putting up a few clips on you tube of the night once i get chance \0/\0/\0/\0/\0/..

Dont agree with you there Dean,Andy Carrolls selection of tunes ruined the night for me and others,it was an oldskool night meant to be playing oldskool tunes,new stuff was played,enough said,why should people bother attending an 'oldskool' night when new stuff is getting played out?IMO Andy Carroll didnt give a shit what the people wanted to hear he just played what he wanted to play like he has done at previous quad nights

I might be a bit crazy.. and whats normal anyway.
I enjoyed myself and want others to give the night a go, We all have diffrent tastes what a boring world it would be if we all liked one thing anyway. Im sorry to here you had such a bad night.

To be totally honest I thought you where enjoying yaself but what do I know anyway I dont see why ive upset you with my thoughts of the night..

If I was having such a bad time I would have just left and went elswhere but thats me.:|

No cloakroom needed a coat as it was pissing down. Had to leave it in the car outside, then the driver left at 2AM and the doorman said if I go get my coat I couldnt get back in, great...... the lad was a friend of a friend, night cut short at 2AM missed JK Thanks to Mike Knowler for the tickets, fav set of the night (didnt the music go off at one point?) Nice to meet Alan James from the Cokey/Hard Dock looking for the venue, nice guy, good crowd all round, cheers.

actually enjoyed myself but i think that was down to the people more than the music too much piano again, but it looked like everyone who was there at the end really enjoyed it, would really liked to of heard the likes of energy flash,Q,moment in time,unity,ecstacy express,kokko,he chilled out,2v231,piano please, i could go on and on but these are the tunes i remember from them good old days (oh dear going off on 1 again)anyway thnx to dean,peter+emma,bren,kezza,shazza+lee(i think) and me missus for making it a good night, might cya at the next 1

A little disappointed with the venue overall but it was good for atmosphere...and some boss tunes as you would expect.

Never saw any bellends but by the end of the night I was well away with the mixers, it was great seeing Alf, Paul, Jamesey, Nikki, etc and the one and only Shazza.

Pity I never met a few others like Cano or Bren but there is always next time.

Deffo keep it as a special event and not CREAM it for the money, otherwise it will get stale and the buzz will wear off and eventually the whole thing will come to an end.

We went to the Hacienda 15th Birthday bash in 1997 which promised 15 years of classics on the flyer. Now K-Klass and 2 for Joy rocked the place with live PA's which was amazing.

At around midnight, DJ holloway and Eastwick came on and ruined the night by playing new (obscure) tunes only. Biggest dissappointment ever! People were litterally shouting towards the DJ box to play some classics. They even managed to clear the stage!

A week later the Hacienda closed.
