Do ya homework on talk talk before you jump in, a couple of people I know have gone for it and have had a bit of a nightmare. They are supplying shit USB modems with the package too, no wireless.

The sky one gives you a netgear wireless router which are the dogs ..

If it is the Netgear shit, then i can cay with confidance that its terrible. I had this last year with cable at my old house- it was forever going off. It was also quite slow for broadband. Jonno and I chatted about getting this from Sky last week, but i was unaware at the time that is was the Netgear thang.

Amz, i assume you mean the Netgear DG834...
How long you had it?
There were issues with these a year or so ago with dropping connections etc, but to the best of my knowledge they have all been fixed with new firmware releases. If you're having problems, try re-flashing it (do a backup first). Don't re-flash it over a wireless connection mind :axe: Mine's on the latest firmware & has been fine for months. I can't remember the last time I had to reboot it or tinker with it's settings.

"Fair play policy" - it might not be 'unlimited' as offered.

I'd read the small print on your contracts and see about their refund policy if it is limited in anyway.

If anyone gets it, can you confirm if you need to have a BT line in order to have this, and can you get the broadband option without having the TV services etc?

£10/month all in would be good, but I can't see it myself, you'd have the BT line rental as well to pay - whats that £11/month as well?

well the option below the 'max' option that is a tenner a month had a usage limit of 40gig a month but thats only peak time (6pm-midnight) so it will be deffo above that. and that for peak time downloadage aint too bad.

most of the high usage accounts have some form of fair usage policy on there. if i was to change to zens 8meg option id have a limit of 50 gig a month (at any time) which way aint near enough. and there a fortune.

it makes me laugh tho as i wanna know how the hell 'unlimited' is really in effect limited

if u break skys fair use policy they can cancel ya contract, slow ya line down etc etc but they give u warnings before then. i doubt unless u go over 100 gig at peak times then ya will hear from em which is a hell of a lot.

you need a bt line to be get it and u need to have sky n the 30 quid tv package, thats why theyve don the deal to try n get more peeps to sign up to the tv side of things. its a good deal for those already with sky n got the channels n that fo sho.

So if you got a standard Sky package with limited channels (like no movies/sports) then do you have to pay more than is stated on the website ?

Say for instance if you went for the max package with free installation and free monthly fee etc would I still have to pay somewhere along the line cos I only have the standard Sky package and no movies/sports etc ?

Does that make sense :|

Has anyone actually got this new Sky Broadband deal up and running yet ?

When I first seen it advertised a month or so ago, I went onto there website and signed up. I was told that I would recieve more information and have yet to recieve a thing from them.

If it's not actually up and running then I think it's a bit shitty there ads clearly stating that "Sky broadband is here"

The posh bit of Liverpool
Is a cracking deal, if i didnt get mine free from work i would go with them :p

Another reason for the delay is that there are several problems with brass profiles at the exchanges, most of it is sorted now, but on the MAX rate adaptive packages they were defaulting to 2mb as the brass still held the information prior to the extended bandwidth being released.

Thank god its gettin sorted now tho, did you say yours is active now butty or are you still toying with the notion of going to sky, if anyone has an active MAX package with sky could you let me know how your finding it as my sis is looking for a full package and looks like this could be the way for her.

Ta all
