Carts and Stylee :D

Righto, feeling flush and one of my styli is feeling a little under the weather, my question is this OSA!

What carts and styli are you using these days, havent changed my carts in a while and feel like going for something different, and would much rather gather some feedback from people i trust and whome use a wide variety of swag. Idealy i want something that is going to give me a clear sound with deffinitive top and bottom end but is ridged enough for tracking and occasional scratching.

your feedback and input as always, is most welcome

well i thought i needed new needles but damo came round last wk cus i wanted my pitch recalibrated....so we ended up giving the decks a full seeing too! he told me my weights etc etc were all wrong so he put that right sorted my anti skate was all wrong - re pitched them cleaned then tightened all nuts and bolts etc etc now they feel like new again hehehe!!

mine are stanton i track..... to say they are now two yrs old damo said they are still very sharp and the difference in the sound quality is amazing now ive sorted the weights out etc......... not sure how they are for scratching but damo seemed to be ok with them...as i had my first scratching tutorial lololol!!!

I use stanton trackmaster carts. i track sytli for bedroom - trackmaster 2's when doing a set. tried discmatser 2 n 3's - didn't like em. Only prob with i tracks - I going thro em like you wouldn't believe

My tables are set up perfect weight and skate bob on, can scratch on pretty much any stylus but want something that will bring the top end out nice and crisp when scratchin me nuts

Yours sounded dodgy as weight / pressure on the tip causes feedback and droaning and puts stress on the twigs ya savage ya debs hehe

was thinking of a move back to stanton after being an ortofon whore for the last few years hehe, looked at trackmasters and the specs seem pretty nice, how have you found them as durability goes?

I use the same ones as Debs, (the yellow ones), and the sound difference compared to normal 500AL's is outstanding, as for scratching with them, not sure as it's one thing I don't usually do.

ortofon concordes are the biz imo. the stanton uns ive used before but dont like the feel of em? they jus seem too bulky to me

Yep can't beat the concordes, just got a pair and they have got a real nice balance to them. Used I Tracks previously, also not bad but could't find anywhere that stocked the stylus for em...so go for the concordes

ortofon concordes pinks all the way, i'v hade the blue's too but i like a little scratch meself so went for the pinks

I use stanton Trackmaster II RS and have been the best i have used...superb bass and treble frequency response...do ok for scratching as well..not cheap but well worth the money imo. Ed

I splashed out on a pair of Ortofon Dj Q-Bert scratch needles, they were mega expensive like but i was feeling like i wanted to treat myself so i did. I used to use the standard black DJ-S Concords which were damm good like but i was amazed to say the least when i compared the sound quality. For a start they are much louder and have a wider frequency response. I didnt really understand the techy shit before i received them but basically the sound is loud and crystal clear and the bass is nice and punchy with a crispy treble. When i bought mine i did a test by having the left deck with the old needle on it and the right with a new Ortofon Q-Bert, i then put duplicate copies of the same record on each deck at the same speed and trim etc and kept crossing the crossfader from left to right. The sound difference was amazing, you get around a +3 trim boost compared to normal Stanton/Ortofon cartridges. They are also amazing for scratching with super torque and last but not least - they look cool as you can see below. GET THESE NOW!

Read a review on em, and im made up someone on here who has used them has confirmed what i have heared
